I am
a third generation Virginia horseman.
I grew
up where we showed…raced…evented…fox hunted and played polo.
In the
early ‘70s I moved to Europe to ride and work with Dougie Bunn, Ray Howe, Allison Oliver, Lars Sederholme, Willie Leahy
and Paul Doyle, among others. I competed and taught clients at the National and
International Level in Show Jumping, Dressage, Eventing and Showing.
In the
mid ‘80s I returned to Virginia and started Rock Ridge Farm in Middleberg. Rock
Ridge was selected as one of the best teaching centers in
the world by “W” Magazine. I am or have been on the Board of the
Middleberg Classic, Warrenton Horse Show and the Virginia Horse Center.
Over
the years I have worked with George Morris, Joe Fargis, Tony Workman, J. Arthur Reynolds, Bucky Reynolds, Jane W. Gastone,
Bobby Burke, Thom Hardy and Rodney Jenkins. My horses and clients have been Champion
or Grand Champion in the Equitation, Juniors, Ponies, Adults, First and Second Year and Working Hunters.
In the
jumper ring I have ridden, trained or sold horses that have won at the Pony, Junior/Amateur and Grand Prix levels.
My continuing
education includes attending clinics and teaching classes and I am currently working with a sports psychologist to assist
my students.
I employ
a traditional and classical approach in my method of teaching, riding, and care of my horses.
My assistants and I look forward
to and enjoy working with Juniors and Amateurs in the Pony, Equitation, Hunter and Jumper rings
